Tuning Your CrushOn AI Character

Sometimes I feel that using AI for character customisation is a real technical skill; even after exploring it for a long time, out-of-character (OOC) situations still occur.

I wrote this guide while exploring Crusoon AI and creating my own stories; perhaps it addresses some of the issues you might be looking for.

Tuning Your CrushOn AI Character

Why AI Characters Sometimes Feel Inconsistent?

Crushonai OOC, the most common situation. Usually, the problem is caused by these things:

  • Weak character definitions: Even if you followed a tutorial to set up your character, it might not work for every AI. Different AIs often require different setup methods.
  • Poor memory structure: Subscribing helps you remember more, but if you haven’t, you can still learn by reviewing your experiences now and then.
  • Incorrect model choice: Different models behave differently. Using the wrong model can completely change the personality quality.
  • Overloaded scenarios: If an AI forgets your messages, it might not be its fault. You could just be mixing up the settings for different AI assistants.
  • Example message missing: Just defining a character’s personality isn’t enough; you also need to provide example messages to show the AI how to respond correctly.

Some creators believe that having too many scenes or a lack of behavioural boundaries can make AI characters OOC. I haven’t personally experienced this issue, but I wanted to mention it as a possibility.

Mastering CrushOn AI Character Customisation

Now that we know why the character acted unusually, let’s see what we can change.

1. CrushOn AI Choose Your Model

That’s right, the first step is to choose a suitable AI model.

I haven’t tried every CrushOn AI model, so I only listed the popular ones. Feel free to add more to this list.

  • Classical CrushOn AI LLM (Beta): The default model is stable but quite basic. It’s fine for casual NSFW chats, but it feels repetitive. Every time I use it, I get a sense of similarity; now I can guess which model it is just by looking at the chat history.
  • CrushOn Classical (Alpha): The model is very creative and interesting, and the NSFW content is quite sexy. Although it occasionally goes off-topic, this is rare. It is ideal for building cheerful characters with small flaws, as the conversation stopped actually suits that kind of personality.
  • CrushOn Hermes 7B: This model is even more engaging than CrushOn Classical, but it is also less stable. Much like an unpredictable friend, it would be better if it didn’t occasionally say things that make no sense.
  • CrushOn RP LLM (Beta): A faster response time for the model, but this also means a lower depth of thought. Some users have shared that it’s similar to Classical CO, but I haven’t used Classical CO.
  • CrushOn Taurus: Released two years ago, this model excels at supplementing character behavior and actions, particularly for shy types. However, it generally blocks adult content.

Pick the right AI model for the role, then move to the next step.

2. Improve character templates

Beyond the standard details like name and appearance, you can also include race, sexual orientation, extra information, and a short life story.

Please provide as much detail as possible when filling out this information. Your entire role is based on these details, so do not rush or be vague.

For example: [Sexuality(bisexual + attracted to men + attracted to women)]

When describing a character’s race and appearance, be very specific. For instance, instead of just mentioning a tail, describe its exact color, shape, and size to make it unique. For example, a long, thin, black, pointed demon tail is different from a large, bushy, yellow-white tail.

Personality Definition: Instead of listing adjectives, provide concrete behavioral examples. Rather than saying “confident,” describe how that confidence manifests: “She speaks with unwavering certainty, maintains eye contact during conversations, and rarely second-guesses her decisions.”

Background and History: A character’s past shapes their present behavior. Include key life events, relationships, traumas, and achievements that influence how they interact with the world. This doesn’t need to be exhaustive—just provide enough detail for the AI to understand their motivations and emotional triggers.

3. Create some scenes

Write down some of the most common scenarios in advance, such as when greeting each other, when reuniting, and when parting.

Thought Simulation: Implement a “thoughts” system where the character has internal monologues that contrast with their spoken words. This creates depth, internal conflict, and emotional realism that transforms simple dialogue into a compelling character study.

Behaviour Loops and Patterns: Define recurring behavioural patterns that the character exhibits under specific conditions. For example: “When stressed, she taps her fingers rhythmically on surfaces” or “When lying, he avoids direct eye contact and speaks slightly faster than normal.” These consistent patterns make the character feel more authentic and predictable in believable ways.

Roleplay Bot Optimisation Techniques

“Roleplay bot optimization” is basically the art of making AI interactions feel less robotic. Here are the biggest improvements you can make.

Reduce Repetitive Responses

Some bots repeat phrases constantly. Common causes: Weak prompts, Overused emotional cues, and Limited personality structure

Fix: Add unique habits, define vocabulary style and Give emotional variation

Improve Emotional Realism

Good emotional writing includes contradictions. Example:

Instead of: “Always happy.” Use: “Tries to appear confident but hides insecurity.”

Nuance creates believable reactions.

Avoid Overcontrolling the AI

Too many restrictions can make responses stiff.

If your prompt reads like a 400-line legal contract, the AI may become robotic.

Balance matters.

Location and Atmosphere:

Ground the scene in a specific physical place with sensory details. Instead of “a city,” try “a closed restaurant kitchen at 11pm” or “a hospital waiting room at 3am.”

Opening Tension:

Establish what just happened or is about to happen that makes this moment matter. Instead of “they meet again,” try “one of them is about to leave the country and the other just found out”.

Common Questions from CrushOn AI Users

Q: Why does my AI character forget important details we discussed earlier?

A: This is due to the technical limitation of context windows. Each AI model can only actively process a certain amount of recent conversation (typically measured in tokens). Once information scrolls past this window, it’s effectively forgotten unless specifically saved in memory systems or periodically reinforced.

Q: How can I prevent my character from speaking or acting for me during roleplay?

A: This common issue usually stems from two factors: insufficient user input or problematic character definitions. First, ensure your own messages are detailed enough to give the AI something substantial to respond to—short, generic inputs often force the AI to take control to move the story forward. Second, add explicit instructions in your character’s scenario or description field: “{{Char}} will not describe {{user}}’s thoughts or feelings, but only roleplay as [character name]” . Also, maintain consistent pronoun usage and avoid describing the user’s actions in your character definitions.

Q: What’s the best way to handle repetitive or generic responses?

A: Repetitive responses often indicate either a lack of narrative direction or insufficient character depth. To combat this: 1) Introduce new variables or complications using OOC commands when the scene stalls; 2) Provide more detailed, descriptive inputs to give the AI richer material to work with; 3) Use the regeneration function to get alternative responses; 4) Ensure your character has enough specific traits, flaws, and behavioral patterns to generate varied interactions; 5) Occasionally change the scene setting or emotional context to reset the dynamic.
